China’s photovoltaic power generation technology lights up the green World Cup

With the lights flickering, the 2022 Qatar World Cup kicked off, and the passion of fans all over the world was once again ignited. Did you know that every ray of light illuminating the green field of the World Cup is full of "Chinese elements"? Just one month before the opening of the World Cup in Qatar, the China Power Construction Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Power Construction) contracted The 800 MW photovoltaic power station in Alcazar was successfully put into operation, and its full capacity was connected to the grid for power generation, providing strong green energy for the World Cup in Qatar.

Sunshine is another abundant energy resource besides oil in the Middle East. With the help of Alcazar's 800 MW photovoltaic power plant, the scorching sunlight is converted into a steady stream of green electricity and sent to the Qatar World Cup Stadium. The 800 MW photovoltaic power station in Alcazar is the largest non-fossil renewable energy power station in Qatar's history. It is expected to provide Qatar with about 1.8 billion kWh of clean electricity every year, meeting the annual electricity consumption of about 300,000 households. Meeting 10% of Qatar's peak electricity demand is expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 26 million tonnes. The project is part of Qatar's "National Vision 2030". It pioneered Qatar's new energy photovoltaic power generation field and strongly supported Qatar's commitment to hosting the "carbon neutral" World Cup.

"The 800 MW photovoltaic area of this project all adopts Chinese equipment, which accounts for more than 60% of the total investment, further enhancing the market share of domestic brands in the Middle East, giving full play to the advantages of the integration of the entire industrial chain, and creating a Chinese enterprise Good overseas image.” Li Jun, site construction manager of PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Co., Ltd., said.
